Neurosurgery Residency - How to Apply

Application Information

Thank you for your interest in the Neurosurgery Residency Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. We require applications to be processed through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). All candidates must be registered for the match with the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). Our residency program accepts one to two applicants from the neurosurgery match per year.

ERAS is a centralized online application service that sends resident applications, Medical Student Performance Evaluations (MSPEs), letters of recommendations (LoRs), USMLE transcripts, COMLEX-USA transcripts, medical school transcripts, and other supporting documents from you and your Designated Dean’s Office to our Program Director. To apply to our program, please visit the ERAS and the NRMP websites.

The application deadline is November 1.

Virtual Interview Information

All applications are reviewed by the Department of Neurosurgery’s Program Director, and qualified candidates will be invited for an interview. We host our interviews for our applicants in November through January. Based on the applications received, we typically select 30 applicants to interview. If you are invited for an interview, you will be given a choice of dates that will be assigned on a first come basis. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all interviews will be conducted virtually through the Zoom platform. All applicants will be required to have a computer with a webcam or a smart phone with reliable internet service, and must provide a secure and working email address and phone number for effective communication. Once the interview has been scheduled, a Zoom meeting link will be sent to the applicant in advance.
